They will ask various questions to weed out a person so that they don't waste their time meeting a person face-to-face. This saves a lot of time, as a lot of people who use online dating have the habit of liking to lead people on only to let them down when it comes to a face-to-face meeting. Mature people get this out of the way first and foremost. 

Mature people look at the condition of someone's life: 

Mature people who decide to use online dating don't waste any time, they see whether or not someone has their life together to be able to handle a serious relationship. They look at whether or not they take care of themselves, do they have a stable job, are they financially stable, and emotionally stable. If the person doesn't seem to have these things in order then no time will be wasted on dating and especially no consideration given to anything in the future. If everything is alright though in terms of the stability of a person's life, then more consideration will be given for something long-term.
