- In my own words:
-
Raised in a small New Mexico town where "Anglos" were the minority, I came up as a very multi-culturally aware person, mostly in and around Albuquerque and Santa Fe. As a result I'm adventurous with ethnic foods, like foreign cinema, and think all cultures offer a great deal of wisdom and validity to those who are willing to learn about them.
I'm a sometime painter (pitchers, not walls!), writer of fiction, stage plays and video/film scripts. The first 20 years of my career were spent in radio/TV --writing, producing and on-air-- then, on to advertising agencies as creative director. During those years I was involved in live theater as well as TV production. I wrote a couple of stage plays that were produced and won a few awards, and I've written and produced (edited and mixed) hundreds of TV and radio commercials.
I came to Texas in 1993 because advertising and marketing types are drawn to younger, fresher faces and talents, and by then the bloom was fading from this rose. I worked at Texas State Technical College Waco for 12 years as a writer/producer/voice talent on student recruitment and instructional videos. Later on I got into occupational analysis focus groups for the purpose of helping the instructional departments there to keep their curricula current with industry requirements.
I like dogs, enchiladas, arias, good actors, bad puns, and interesting, funny ladies.
